Viridian Supports the Orcalab Hansen Island

Viridian is proud to be a partner in the upgrade of the renewable solar energy system at the Orcalab on Hansen Island. The project has been sponsored by a collaboration between ELSE Canada, the Great Climate Race, and BullFrog Power. This project will see a major upgrade with a new wind turbine and solar panels for the research station with an aim to reduce or eliminate diesel fuel usage.

Dr. Paul Spong has been operating this lab since the 1970s as a remote research station to study Orcas in their natural habitat without interfering with their lives or habitat. Learn more here.
